Product Description Never heard of James H. Burkhalter? You're not alone. But that is the very point of this autobiography. I wrote it for my future progeny, yet to be identified, simply because I would like to have had something similar by an ancestor I had never met, giving his take on his current events, to me history. I also wanted to emphasize that one doesn't have to be a celebrity to have an interesting life story. Those close to me who have read it have encouraged me to publish it, so why not? It also gives me a platform for ideas I have on Economics, Politics, Religion, and Science. The latter might be amusing to future generations, if this gets to them. Hope you have a good read! N.B. The Science section contains some original unpublished speculations in theoretical physics on Black Holes, on The Big Bang, and on photons, expressed in lay language. About the Author James H. Burkhalter a native of Rome, GA, was Lead Bombardier on the final bombing mission of WWII, over a week after Hiroshima. A few days later, his B29 was the first to land in Japan, in the first few hours of occupation. He took his doctorate in physics (microwave spectroscopy) at Duke University in 1950. After a long career in University teaching, commercial and aerospace research and engineering, laser research, optical design, and LASIK development, he retired as Chief Scientist of Autonomous Technologies, Inc. in 1998. He was inducted into the NASA Spacecraft Hall of Fame in 2004 for the LASIK work. He lives in his home of 45 years in Orlando, FL. He and his wife Jenny had two sons, Dr. S. Brian Burkhalter (deceased) and Dr. William N. Burkhalter, currently their own Baptist pastor in Orlando, and formerly a missionary for many years in Bangladesh, the Philippines, and Indonesia. Jim enjoys computer work, church work, meditating, music, and writing. He has over 20 U.S. patents, numerous foreign ones, and several scientific papers. He has one previous book, Free From the Sea, available from Airleaf Publishing.
