This book discusses the method and implementation of evaluating the houses vulnerability from earthquake risk. Housing development on post earthquake of Java May 27th conveys the fact that traditional ways have mixed with modern technique in constructing the houses since the need for shelter was more than safety precaution in house construction. The emergency question is: Are they all will have appropriate performance under earthquake? Thus what method should be utilized in order to assess vernacular houses and what the level of house vulnerability are the main focus of this book. Earthquake and its aspects are discussed in this book. All these subjects though may simple things for engineers but significantly needed for other professionals in building such as architect, building designer, builder, owner, or even the people themselves. The rest of the book examined how this simple procedure for building evaluation in vernacular house is proposed. After comparing some technique in Rapid Visual Screening Procedures trough the world, a procedure based on FEMA 154 Rapid Visual Screening was developed. Field application was done and confirmed the capability of the method.
