This small book is offered as a laypersons guide to earthquakes and faults in San Diego. Included are summaries of two groups of earthquakes the strongest of all those that have struck San Diego from any source during the past two centuries, and all except the very smallest of those that have originated under the city during the last 50 years. In addition to a fault map of San Diego, ten of the most conspicuous local faults are described in some detain, and eight of those are illustrated.

I thought this would be more of a general read about earthquakes, but it's pretty technical. While it’s packed with facts, it wasn’t engaging for my casual interest. Might work better for serious geology students.

Perfect for local residents and planners
As an urban planner, this book has been incredibly helpful in understanding seismic risks in San Diego County. The detailed fault maps really assist in my work. Would recommend to others in the field!

Informative but a bit dry
This book has a lot of detailed information about faults in San Diego, which is what I was looking for. However, I found some sections a bit technical and hard to get through. Still, it’s a solid resource for anyone studying geology.
