Histricamente las relaciones entre la industria minera, sociedad y su impacto ambiental han sido complejas. Por sobre las externalidades positivas en trminos econmicos, esta ha sido cuestionada debido al tipo de explotacin, consumo de recursos norenovables, energticos y de agua, como de los impactos ambientales de los reactivos utilizados en sus procesos de operacin. Este estudio evala la eficacia del uso de bioslidos provenientes de plantas de tratamiento de aguas servidas domiciliarias como agentes espumantes y colectores, obtenindose que estos residuos y su revalorizacin podran llegar a ser una alternativa factible para el reemplazo de los reactivos utilizados en la actualidad, permitiendo al proceso de flotacin llegar a ser ambientalmente amigable. Se plantea un modelo de gestin sustentable del procesamiento de minerales incorporando flujos de residuos provenientes de otras industrias y procesos que pudieran fomentar la Ecologa Industrial en distintas etapas del proceso. El estudio resulta ser til para profesionales de la Ingeniera del campo de la qumica, minera, medioambiente y sustentabilidad.
