In the scenario of rising global warming, there is a need of control in carbon emission as well as maintaining carbon sequestration mechanism at global level. Community forestry, which is one of the successful forestry programs in Nepal, has remarkable contribution on storage and sequestration of carbon from the atmosphere. The findings presented in this book highlight the importance of the community forests in term of environmental value. The study shows that carbon content in below ground including soil organic carbon and root biomass was 1.496 times greater than above ground and undergrowth biomass organic carbon in Shorea robusta (Sal) dominant community forest of inner Dang Deukhuri valley. The finding shows the potential revenue foregone for carbon sequestration through forest conservation in these areas was high concerning the possibility of selling carbon sequestration services of forest ecosystem in international market. This book is of great interest for general readers to policy makers, professionals and students working in the sector of climate change and natural resource management.
