El uso de tcnicas inadecuadas de construccin, as como defectos en la estructuracin y en el diseo estructural, han sido las causas principales por las que muchas edificaciones de Albailera Armada tuvieron mal comportamiento ssmico a nivel mundial. Puesto que este tipo de albailera se utiliza en pases ssmicos de Latinoamrica, resulta imprescindible mejorar los aspectos sealados, que si bien se encuentran especificados en la Norma peruana E.070, en este libro se trata de comentarlos con una serie de ilustraciones a fin de evitar errores. Este sistema se caracteriza porque la albailera acta como un encofrado permanente del concreto, con el cual se llenan las celdas de los bloques para integrar a la albailera con el acero de refuerzo interno, formando un solo conjunto estructural. En otros casos, se prescinde del mortero para unir los bloques, formndose un sistema denominado albailera armada de junta seca, de gran rapidez constructiva en relacin al tradicional, que tambin se aborda en este libro, donde adems se incluye el reforzamiento de las viviendas de tapial (tierra apisonada), simulando una albailera armada, pero esta vez con varillas de eucalipto.
