El presente trabajo pretende fundar un problema de conocimiento a partir de la pregunta por el sentido de los acontecimientos relacionados con la historia de la educacin tcnica en la ciudad de Palmira (Valle del Cauca Colombia) al interior del proceso de industrializacin iniciado por la industria azucarera en esta regin a comienzos del siglo XX, aspecto que no ha sido objeto de estudio a nivel local. Aborda en este sentido el problema desde aspectos como el desarrollo industrial local, la cultura y la evolucin curricular que determin el proceso de industrializacin, sometiendo a revisin los postulados impuestos por el sistema respecto a la formacin por competencias dirigida a la serializacin y homogenizacin del homo faber en pro de la consecucin de un mayor lucro, permitiendo avizorar horizontes de humanidad que no son posibles desde currculos sedentarios como los enmarcan la actual formacin para el trabajo. Introduce una apuesta por una vuelta a un currculo menos sedentario desde la experiencia histrica de la formacin tcnica que impuso el paso de la modernizacin de la industria azucarera, apuntando hacia un horizonte esperanzador para la educacin actual.
