After initiating a critical involvement with new poetics in dialogue with his mentor Charles Olson at Black Mountain College in the 1950s, Dorn wandered the transmountain West following the variable winds of writing and casual employment until the mid1960s, when a time of trial and change resulted in the beginnings of the groundbreaking long poem Gunslinger. This first biography by his longtime friend and fellow poet Tom Clarkauthor of previous biographies of Jack Kerouac, Ted Berrigan, Charles Olson and Robert Creeleyoffers a record of Dorns life and work drawing upon fresh testimony, letters and unpublished manuscript material provided by surviving family members.

I had high hopes for this book, but it felt like it took a while to get to the good stuff. The ideas are compelling, but the narrative pace could use some work. Still, I found some gems within the pages.

A Thought-Provoking Journey
Edward Dorn's work invites readers to explore life's nuances. "A World of Difference" struck a chord with me, especially his reflections on society. Recommended for anyone looking to ponder deeper questions!

Not My Cup of Tea
While I appreciate the effort in "A World of Difference," I found it hard to connect with Dorn's style. Some passages felt overly complex and left me confused rather than intrigued. Definitely not for everyone!

Mixed Feelings on This One
I enjoyed some parts of Dorn's writing in "A World of Difference," but at times I felt it dragged a bit. The insights are valuable, but I expected more engaging prose throughout. Still worth a read if you're into literary works.
