El parsito Entamoeba histolytica es el agente etiolgico de la amibiasis. Esta enfermedad es un problema de salud pblica en Mxico. la fase infectiva de E. histolytica es el quiste. En nuestro laboratorio se descubri que E. histolytica, cuando se cultiva en condiciones axnicas en el medio PEHPS es capaz de formar estructuras semejantes a quistes pero con muchas formas con pared inmadura. En nuestro trabajo observamos que cuando el medio PEHPS se adiciona con sales del tipo bivalente (Mg+2, Mn+2 y Co+2) la resistencia al detergente aumenta y el contenido de quitina en estas estructuras se incrementa en ms de 100 veces, con una calidad biolgica baja. El objetivo de nuestro estudio fue disear un medio de cultivo que permitiera mejorar las ocndiciones biolgicas de estos quistes. Se utilizo el mtodo simplex para determinar los valores y concentraciones ptimas en el medio de cultivo de 11 factores qumicos y 4 condiciones fisicoqumicas. Los factores analizados fueron; suero bovino,solucin soluble de colesterol y lpidos, extracto de hgado y pncreas, vitaminas 109 de Diamond y diversas concentraciones de glucosa y metales divalentes.
