El electromagnetismo ha sido estudiado desde hace mucho tiempo por sus efectos sobre los sistemas biolgicos. El inters de los campos electromagnticos de muy baja frecuencia (ELFMF) para la biologa en general es que estos pueden influir en distintos procesos biolgicos como la migracin, diferenciacin y proliferacin celular en distintos tipos celulares. En el presente trabajo se evalu el efecto de la aplicacin de un estmulo electromagntico de 120 Hz, 0.7mT sobre la proliferacin y diferenciacin en cultivos primarios de intestino murino postnatal en presencia y ausencia de NT3, un factor neurotrpico involucrado en el desarrollo del sistema nervioso entrico. Es importante resaltar que este es el primer trabajo en donde se utilizan los ELFMF en presencia de un factor neurotrpico en clulas del intestino, mostrando que al combinar el estmulo electromagntico con un factor neurotrpico aumenta la proliferacin celular, sugiriendo que la electroestimulacin puede ser empleada como una estrategia para manipular la densidad celular as como para el desarrollo de nuevas terapias para el tratamiento de enfermedades del sistema nervioso entrico.
