Der Fokus dieser teils literarisch und teils empirisch konzipierten Magisterarbeit ist auf die binationale Eheschlieung thailndischer Frauen mit deutschen Mnnern gerichtet, wobei nach den kulturspezifischen Ursachen von Heiratsmigration gefragt wird. Von zentraler Bedeutung ist hier das Konzept des 'bunkhun', der Dankbarkeitsleistung als Gegengabe fr erhaltene Frsorge, die insbesondere Frauen der thailndischen Gesellschaft zur finanziellen Untersttzung ihrer Familien verpflichtet. Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, die Aktualitt dieses soziokulturellen Konzeptes im Kontext der Migration zu eruieren. In Bezug auf materielle Versorgungsleistungen von Deutschland nach Thailand nehmen transnationale Netzwerke als Grenzen berschreitende Aktionsrume einen wichtigen Stellenwert ein. Neben wirtschaftsethnologischen Anstzen werden neuere Theorien der Migrationsforschung herangezogen. Als literarische Grundlage' dienen soziologische Studien, die sich mit der Heiratsmigration von Frauen aus Thailand in die BRD befassen, insbesondere wird auf Ergebnisse der Datenerhebungen von Pataya Ruenkaew (Heirat nach Deutschland. Motive und Hintergrnde thailndischdeutscher Eheschlieungen, 2003) und Elvira Niesner et al. (Ein Traum vom besseren Leben, 1997) Bezug genommen. Zum weiter fhrenden Vergleich werden Ergebnisse einer eigenen qualitativen Befragung verwendet, deren Sample aus zehn thailndischen Ehefrauen deutscher Mnner bestand.
