In der Literaturwissenschaft fehlt eine theoriegeleitete Konfliktforschung bislang vllig. Thomas Kaulisch versucht diese Lcke mit Hilfe des stukturellen Konfliktbegriffs aus der Politikwissenschaft zu schlieen. Dabei wird das zuvor kurz erluterte konflikttheoretische Instrumentarium nutzbar gemacht, um vier moderne englische Dramen zu analysieren. Die Ehen der jeweiligen Figuren sind die Untersuchungsgegenstnde. In drei Schritten erfolgt eine Untersuchung der Konflikthaftigkeit, eine Analyse der Konfliktregulierungen und eine Bewertung der Einflunahme Dritter. Der interdisziplinre Ansatz wird durch konkrete Ergebnisse gerechtfertigt.
