Wie gewohnt brechen die Zuschauer in lautes Gelchter aus dann strzt sich der Komiker tatschlich in die Tiefe. Die Geschichte erschien im Jahre 1978 als eine von 104 Kurz und Krzesttexten unter dem Namen Der Stimmenimitator', verfasst von Thomas Bernhard, der sie als hundertvier freie Assoziationen und DenkErfindungen' bezeichnet. Doch die Textsammlung wurde wenig gerhmt, als glatte Enttuschung' und als Betriebsunfall' in Bernhards Prosawerk gesehen. Worin grndet dieses negative Urteil? Mglicherweise hilft hier ein Blick auf den Charakter der Geschichten: Sie berichten fast ausnahmslos von grausamen Geschehnissen, von Katastrophen, Mord und Todschlag. Die negative Rezeption in der ffentlichkeit hat sich auch auf die Forschung ausgewirkt, denn ber kaum ein Werk Bernhards ist so wenig geschrieben worden, wie ber den Stimmenimitator'. Und so wird in der Forschung auch nur nebenbei bemerkt, was schon die Geschichte vom Selbstmord des Komikers zeigt: Bernhards DenkErfindungen' sind grotesk. Worin aber liegt der groteske Gehalt des Stimmenimitators' genau? Dies zu bestimmen soll Ziel der hier angestellten Untersuchungen sein. Hierzu wird zunchst das Groteske an sich genauer bestimmt, dann das groteske Potenzial der Pointen im Stimmenimitator, sowie die groteske Darstellung von Natur und Mensch darin.
