Das Buch behandelt die Lagerproblematik in Handelsbetrieben. Bei Unsicherheiten im Bedarf und vorgegebenem Servicegrad wird die Lagermenge minimiert. Es vergleicht die gngigen theoretischen Methoden und whlt jene fr die Praxis relevanten aus. Das bislang ungelste Problem der Optimierung von mehrstufigen Lagersystemen (Zentrallager Filiallager) wird durch ein spezielles Verfahren gelst. Die spezifische Situation der Lagerhaltung in Grohandelsbetrieben wird in Form einer CaseStudy errtert. Ziel des Buches ist es, fr diese spezielle Situation des Handels ein praktisch erprobtes Lsungsverfahren anzubieten und Tips fr die Implementierung zu geben. Der Leser, der sich mit dem Problem der Lagerhaltung im Handel beschftigen will, erspart sich nicht nur langwieriges Literaturstudium, sondern erhlt auch neben Verfahrensvergleichen einen Lsungsvorschlag durchgerechnet und ausprogrammiert. Durch die Beschreibung smtlicher Schwierigkeiten bei der Umsetzung der Lsung erhlt das Buch hchste Relevanz fr den Praktiker. Das Buch wurde im November 1991 mit dem Preis der sterreichischen Gesellschaft fr Operations Research ausgezeichnet.
