Frazer und Malinowski ein Ansatz erarbeitet, der den Begriff Magie angemessen definieren soll, und anschlieend Bezug auf Aleister Crowley genommen. Crowley, der partiell Frazers Ansichten teilt, bezeichnet seine eigene Art der Magie bewusst als Magick, um sich von einer allgemeinen Magie abzugrenzen. Nach Crowleys Auffassung versucht Magie mit Riten die Realitt zu verndern, aber dies stellt kein Merkmal der Magick dar. Hieraus ergibt sich die Fragestellung, welche Gemeinsamkeiten Crowleys Magick mit einer ursprnglichen Form der Magie aufzuweisen hat. Zwar formuliert Crowley eine Abgrenzung von Magick zur Magie, jedoch ist eine hnliche Grundstruktur vorhanden. Dieses Buch zeigt, ob und inwieweit Crowleys eklektizistisch anmutender neuzeitlicher MagieBegriff das ethnologische MagieKonzept adaptiert oder verndert, um sein Verstndnis von Magick darzulegen. About the Author Nadine Kaiser, Jahrgang 1988, studiert an der Universitt Koblenz Kulturwissenschaft. Bereits vor dem Beginn ihres Studiums interessierte sie sich fr historisch berlieferte mystische, bersinnliche, spiritistische und magische Phnomene. Dieses Interesse bewegte sie dazu, im Rahmen ihres Studiums einen Schwerpunkt auf die soziologische und ethnologische Betrachtung und Erforschung von magischen Praktiken zu legen. Dabei beschftigt sie sich nicht nur mit theoretischen Konzepten, sondern forscht im Rahmen ihrer Masterarbeit auch aktiv auf dem Gebiet der Magie.
