Um ber das Thema Globalisierung allgemeingltige Aussagen treffen zu knnen, ist es sinnvoll, dieses Phnomen analytisch in verschiedene Dimensionen zu kategorisieren. Es handelt sich um einen Prozess der weitrumigen Ausdehnung sozialer, konomischer und politischer Beziehungen, welcher sich unter anderem in einer Intensivierung regionale und nationale Grenzen berschreitender Strme an Informationen, Kapital, Gtern und Menschen ausdrckt. Das Thema Tourismus aus der Perspektive der Globalisierung zu betrachten und zu aussagekrftigen Ergebnissen zu kommen, erweist sich deshalb als eine Herausforderung, weil der Tourismus auf globaler Ebene eine Schnittstelle zwischen den unterschiedlichen Dimensionen darstellt. Der Tourismus, der je nach Blickwinkel des Betrachters mglicherweise zunchst hauptschlich als konomisches Phnomen gesehen werden kann, ist stets vor dem Hintergrund des Aspektes der Politik und der Kultur zu betrachten. Auch soziale Aspekte sind nicht zu vernachlssigen.
