Schon die quantitative Dimension des Phnomens knnte also fr eine Wissenschaft die sich mit dem Menschen beschftigt wie eben die Psychologie Grund genug sein, in der Einstellungsforschung ein interessantes Arbeitsgebiet zu sehen. Noch reizvoller scheint die Beschftigung mit Einstellungsnderungen, markieren diese doch hufig Wendepunkte im Leben von Menschen, oft auch solche bedeutsamer Natur. Einstellungsnderungen ergeben sich hufig durch Erlebnisse und Erfahrungen, diese wiederum resultieren nicht immer, aber doch meist, aus der Begegnung, der Konfrontation mit anderen Menschen und Menschengruppen. So ist ein relevanter Bezug speziell zur Sozialpsychologie ebenfalls hergestellt. Sehr gravierende Einstellungsnderungen sind notwendig bei Menschen, mit denen sich in dieser Arbeit befat werden soll. Suchtkranke haben wie jeder Mensch bestimmte Einstellungen sich selbst gegenber, gegenber anderen Menschen und in Bezug auf ihr jeweiliges Suchtmittel. Diese dann durch Lernen aus der eigenen Erfahrung, ber Informationen und insbesondere durch die sorgende Konfrontation mit Anderen zu verndern, stellt die schwere, berlebensnotwendige Aufgabe dar, die hier zu bewltigen ist. Als konkretes Beispiel wird der Alkoholismus gewhlt, eine besonders verbreitete Suchtkrankheit unserer Zeit und des westlichen Kulturkreises.
