Esta investigacin propuso estudiar la manera en que el anime (animacin japonesa) se ha integrado a un sector de la cultura popular puertorriquea, y cules han sido las circunstancias que han contribuido a dicha acogida. Como elemento catalizador, la televisin en Puerto Rico ha adaptado dentro de su programacin cierto contenido de series anime que ha propagado su fama y ha familiarizado a la joven audiencia a su esttica y forma. Este estudio busc explorar las razones para la formacin de una subcultura del anime en Puerto Rico, a la luz de las razones que se han discutido plenamente sobre movimientos similares en otros pases, Estados Unidos especialmente. Ya que el anime representa un tema muy amplio y diverso, el anlisis se concentr principalmente en la esttica de los personajes de las series que se transmitieron en Puerto Rico hasta el da de hoy. Dicha esttica apela de muchas maneras a las culturas alrededor del mundo hacindola un elemento de transculturacin, pero es considerado como una norepresentacin de la apariencia comn de los japoneses. A qu se debe esto?
