Este libro fue concebido a partir de cuatro ejes que demarcan la relacin que se establece entre la Universidad y la comunidad a travs de la Extensin Universitaria. Para poder esquematizarlo, se abord en primer lugar la definicin de qu es la Extensin y cmo se la concibe desde la Universidad Nacional de La Plata. En una segunda etapa, se propone delimitar proyectos que se vinculan a la Educacin y el Arte en contextos no formales (Unidades Carcelarias y Hospitales Neuropsiquitricos), y cmo estos Proyectos de Extensin se estructuran y se conceptualizan formalmente en la propia Universidad. En el tercer eje, se desarrolla la experiencia de un taller de arte y construccin de ciudadana en una institucin Neuropsiquitrica y se busca a partir de esta prctica vislumbrar la actividad especfica y los alcances de la misma. Finalmente, como cuarto y ltimo eje, se esbozan algunas aproximaciones tericas de cmo es posible concebir al arte como una herramienta de transformacin social.
