En 'El astillero' se cumple la culminacin del ciclo de Santa Mara y de su hroe Larsen. Esta novela presenta la vuelta del protagonista a la misma ciudad que le expulsara de su seno, enfrentado a dos proyectos quimricos que no supondrn ms que ficticios descansos en un descanso equiparable al viaje a las sombras del Ulises homrico.
