Luego, en 1970, los residentes descubrieron que el equipo que crean que construira un parque tal como la ciudad les haba prometido hace aos en realidad comenzaba la edificacin de una estacin de polica. Entonces supieron que era hora de hacer or sus voces. El barrio se levanta invita a los lectores a unirse a la valiente joven activista Elena y sus vecinos durante su exitosa ocupacin de tierras y ms all, cuando los residentes de Barrio Logan se juntaron para construir el colorido parque que se convertira en el corazn de la comunidad chicana de San Diego.
