El diseo hptico es una lnea de investigacinaccin interdisciplinaria, que tiene como objetivo generar imgenes en altorrelieve que sean percibidas por medio del tacto activo, sin que la persona requiera un aprendizaje previo de stas. De forma general, los diseos tctiles para personas con discapacidad visual (PcDVi) se encuentran prefigurados con base en el paradigma visualista que toma como referente lo observado. Sin embargo, las investigaciones realizadas que se presentan en este libro, demuestran que es posible proponer un nuevo paradigma de diseo para PcDVi que sea prefigurado con base en las representaciones grficas que stas son capaces de realizar. Dichas representaciones son elaboradas a partir de imgenes mentales generadas con la informacin hptica recibida. Es as como las conceptualizaciones y representaciones de las PcDVi sirven como fundamentacin para la realizacin de este tipo de diseos; en el marco de un trabajo colaborativo centrado en y con los usuarios; respaldado mediante diferentes procesos y tcnicas de investigacin cualitativa.
