Cuando se enfrenta la ardua tarea de escribir un libro tcnico sobre un tema especfico, lo primero que se piensa es en consolidar todas las experiencias de campo, sin embargo la gran mayora de las personas que laboramos en el sector agropecuario realizamos extensin, pero con muy poca documentacin de los ensayos y resultados. Muchos de los procesos tecnolgicos en el campo han partido de la base de los conocimientos empricos de quienes con empeo y ahnco han abierto el camino al desarrollo agropecuario de las regiones. Tal es el caso de las zonas bananeras del pas, las cuales a pesar de la influencia inicial de compaas multinacionales, fueron desarrolladas sin el conocimiento de las caractersticas bsicas que determinan el movimiento del agua en el suelo, actuando ms en funcin de los buenos o malos resultados de determinadas labores, en la produccin final, que de procesos planificados. Uno de los compromisos que como profesionales y educadores debemos adquirir es el de contar nuestras experiencias para que los futuros profesionales tengan herramientas de anlisis para enfrentar los problemas tcnicos inherentes al desarrollo del cultivo.
