Albert Camus, naci en Mondovi, Argelia Francesa, 7 de noviembre de 1913, muri en Villeblevin, Francia, 4 de enero de 1960, fue un novelista, ensayista, dramaturgo, filsofo y periodista francs nacido en Argelia. En su variada obra desarroll un pensamiento fundado en la conciencia del absurdo de la condicin humana. En 1957, a la edad de 44 aos, se le concedi el Premio Nobel de Literatura por el conjunto de una obra que pone de relieve los problemas que se plantean en la conciencia de los hombres de hoy. El extranjero (ttulo original francs L'tranger) es la primera novela del escritor francs Albert Camus, publicada en 1942. El protagonista, Meursault, es un ser indiferente a la realidad por resultarle absurda e inabordable. El progreso tecnolgico le ha privado de la participacin en las decisiones colectivas y le ha convertido en "extranjero" dentro de lo que debera ser su propio entorno.
