About the Author Leonardo Sciascia (Racalmuto, Sicilia, 1921Miln, 1989) estudi magisterio en Caltanissetta y dedic parte de su juventud a la enseanza. Posteriormente empez una brillante carrera periodstica para despus convertirse en uno de los novelistas italianos ms importantes de la posguerra. Su obra, as como su activismo poltico, estuvieron marcados por una decidida oposicin a cualquier manifestacin abusiva del poder, en particular el de la Mafia.
