Este ensayo es producto de una investigacin de campo realizada del ao 2001 al 2003 en las ciudades de Quertaro y Oaxaca. Despus de diez aos el escenario de los grupos de la plstica y de las polticas culturales en ambas ciudades ha cambiado, as como mi forma de ver y analizar este campo. Aunque actualmente no comparto algunas de mis opiniones, consider adecuado dejar la estructura del manuscrito original. El texto maneja lugares y situaciones que se han transformado de manera interesante, sobre todo en Oaxaca, dejndolo como huella y testigo de un fenmeno social en un periodo especfico.
