Actualmente las sociedades del mundo experimentan diversos y complejos problemas sociales, polticos, econmicos e ideolgicos. Uno que es de importancia fundamental es la problemtica laboral, sobre todo, de los jvenes profesionales de diversas disciplinas. Por esta razn, mi inters en este trabajo de investigacin se ha enfocado en analizar cmo se conforma el mercado laboral de un tipo de profesional en particular: el antroplogo social. En este sentido, mi objetivo es exponer las transformaciones que han surgido en el mercado laboral de los antroplogos sociales en Mxico, especficamente en el de los egresados en el estado de Yucatn. Para ello, he abordado este estudio a partir de un repaso histrico por el desarrollo de la disciplina en el pas y particularmente en Yucatn. A lo largo de este repaso histrico hago nfasis en dos aspectos centrales. Por una parte, muestro cules han sido las ms importantes instituciones formadoras de antroplogos en el pas y en el estado y, por otra parte, cules han sido las principales instituciones que los han empleado y las tareas que en ellas han llevado a cabo.
