En este libro se expone el estudio del Partido Socialista (PS) en la dcada del 50, especficamente los factores que dieron origen al quiebre partidario en aquella poca. Para llegar al punto central de la divisin partidaria fue necesario realizar un pasaje histrico por el PS, origen y conformacin del partido, fundadores, principales actores, ideologa y cultura poltica para introducirnos de lleno en el periodo a analizar. Para interpretar y entender los conflictos internos que se dieron dentro del Partido Socialista durante los aos 50, es inevitable no analizar una tendencia histrica o un fenmeno poltico el peronismo, de lo que fue y lo que signific el gobierno instaurado por Juan Domingo Pern para el PS, y la posicin que ste tom frente a dicho fenmeno, adems de las consecuencias ocasionadas por las decisiones tomadas durante dicho periodo. Para enfrentar al peronismo se unieron a la Revolucin libertadora. Estos momentos no pueden pasarse por alto ya que son necesarios para la reconstruccin del porqu del quiebre partidario; desde 1956 comenzaron a encontrarse conductas y discursos que hacan denotar la presencia de corrientes intrapartidarias opuestas.
