Su pensamiento, deliberadamente fragmentario y abierto, segn sus propias palabras, no deja por ello de ser riguroso, encauzado en una especie de dialctica sin sntesis. Manuel Tavares tiene el mrito, de conectar, en el estudio que aqu se presenta, los dos problemas: el mal y el sentido de la existencia, que probablemente ms preocuparon a Ricoeur en su vida concreta, constituyendo en buena medida el eje en torno al cual se pueden ir dilucidando los dems problemas antropolgicos fundamentales.Con gran dominio reflexivo y manejo de los textos, Manuel Tavares ha logrado enlazar todas estas cuestiones, conduciendo los problemas desde un terreno en general ms abstracto hasta la concrecin de lo que verdaderamente preocupa a los seres humanos de todos los tiempos y constituye, por ello, un problema filosfico universal, quizs nunca definitivamente resuelto.
