The book focuses on the process of the transition from the traditional banking practices to the modern electronic banking in Uganda, and the technological, legal and practical challenges generated by or attendant to the said transition. The efficacy of the legal and institutional framework regulating electronic banking in Uganda, coupled with the identification of the possible avenues of improving the modern banking system, constitute part of the subject matter considered in this research paper. The book equally analyses the pertinent topical issue of mechanisms for combating electronically generated fraud and money laundering, and extends to; the role played by the modern banking sector to the Ugandan economy, the need to streamline and effectively regulate electronic banking. Further, any critical analysis of the relevant legal and institutional framework, in the context of the transition from traditional banking practices to the modern electronic is incomplete without propounding on the appropriate ways of eliminating the challenges to the effective regulation and implementation of the modern banking practices.
