Vorausgehend hierfr soll an dieser Stelle eine persnliche Auseinandersetzung mit der Frage nach dem Sinn einer medizinisch beruflichen Rehabilitation fr psychisch kranke Menschen in dieser Gesellschaft stehen: Sowohl Arbeit als auch Arbeitslosigkeit knnen krank machen, krperlich ebenso wie psychisch. An dieser Stelle existiert eine fundamentale Schwierigkeit: Arbeitende stehen zwischen dauernder Verfgbarkeit und Freizeitstress, Arbeitslose zwischen erzwungener Unttigkeit und finanziellen Einbuen. Jeder aber ist angewiesen auf eine Balance zwischen Aktivitt und Erholung, um sich seelisch im Gleichgewicht zu halten, um nicht zu 'ver rcken'. Es ist allgemein anerkannt, dass Arbeit das Selbstwertgefhl des Menschen sttzt, den Tag strukturiert, Kontakte ermglicht und Identitt stiftet. Hingegen knnen gerade psychisch kranke Menschen den Anforderungen des Arbeitsmarktes wie Flexibilitt, Konfliktfhigkeit, Frustrationstoleranz und anderer sozial kommunikativer Kompetenzen nicht entsprechen und ziehen sich daraufhin resigniert zurck. Es wird ein Teufelskreis zwischen Ausgrenzung, Selbstisolierung und der Flucht in Scheinwelten in Gang gesetzt. Zudem sind psychische Erkrankungen immer noch stigmatisiert und viele befrchten Nachteile an ihrem Arbeitsplatz (auf die unterschiedlichen Formen der mglichen Stigmatisierung gehe ich genauer im Kapitel 3.2. ein). Die Erwerbsarbeit als sinnvolle Ttigkeit bildet des Weiteren die Basis fr die soziale Teilhabe der Menschen in der Gesellschaft, die ohne diese nicht funktionieren knnte.
