Nachdem sich diese offenbar erfolgreich verkaufen, werden nun auch ihre frheren Werke, insbesondere die Kriminalromane, neu aufgelegt. Die Romane um George Felse und seine Familie erschienen zuerst in den sechziger und siebziger Jahren und wurden seinerzeit nur teilweise ins Deutsche bersetzt. Inzwischen wird die Reihe ergnzt. Diese Romane verdienen sicherlich ebenso viel Aufmerksamkeit wie jene, die im Mittelalter spielen. Zwar folgen sie im Groen und Ganzen den bekannten Schemata des Kriminalromans, zeigen aber einige fr die Autorin typische Zge und deuten an einigen Stellen bereits auf die folgenden Werke hin. Zu diesen typischen Elementen gehrt die Behandlung bestimmter Figuren, etwa die Aufteilung der Rolle des Detektivs auf mehrere Personen, die nicht dem Verhltnis great detective Watson entspricht. Auch das hufige Auftreten von Kindern und Jugendlichen in bedeutenden Rollen ist ein Markenzeichen der Autorin. Weitere typische Figuren, die immer wieder auftreten, sind Musiker. Sie bernehmen alle mglichen Funktionen, von Statisten im Hintergrund bis zur Detektivin oder zum Mrder. Gelegentlich nimmt auch die Handlung auf den Inhalt alter Balladen Bezug. Auerdem ist die Beschreibung der lokalen Musiktradition ein Teil der Charakterisierung der Schaupltze. Den Schaupltzen der Handlung kommt bei Peters eine besondere Bedeutung zu. Sie werden meist nicht nur in ihrer Eigenschaft als Tatort mit den ntigen technischen Details beschrieben, sondern als eigenstndige Elemente geschildert, die mit ihren Eigentmlichkeiten Einflu auf die Handlung und die Personen nehmen.
