Encounters with the Living God features twentyfive portraits of characters from the Old Testament, each written in the first person. Each of the characters describes an encounter with God. Encounters begin with Genesis and continue through the time of the prophets. This volume is a followup to Walkers The Jesus I Knew: Creative Portrayals of Gospel Characters (Abingdon Press, 1996). Includes Scripture references, questions for discussion and reflection, a brief prayer following each character portrait, and suggestions for using and adapting the portraits as guided meditations, sermons, and dramatic readings.
