In recent years international trade in Cameroon and OHADA States has been on the rise which has led not only to increase in trade but has also led to more trade disputes necessitating a solution. Commercial arbitration has become the desired method to resolve these disputes. However, there are few legal practitioners and magistrates in Cameroon who are versed with the law and practice of arbitration. This has created a legal vacuum in this very important area of the law. This book therefore serves as a guide to enforcement of arbitral awards in Cameroon and related arbitration issues. Legal practitioners, magistrates and the business community especially foreign investors shall have within their grasp the various procedures for the enforcement of arbitral awards, the competent jurisdictions to hear applications for the enforcement or nullification of arbitral awards in Cameroon. The book also gives the reader a basic understanding of some concepts of arbitration and also looks into the grounds for the refusal of enforcement of arbitral awards under the Uniform Act on Arbitration 1999 and the New York Convention for the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards 1958.
