It covers a time which witnessed major changes in the government of this extensive diocese, the redefinition of the bishop's jurisdictional powers, and the creation of territorial archdeaconries.This edition contains an introduction which encompasses the material in both Exeter volumes, and an index will appear at the end of Volume XII. Together, these volumes will provide an invaluable resource for historians of southwest England in the Middle Ages.
