This volume provides original source material on the history of Cyprus in English translation from the German texts. This therefore enables those with a serious interest in the history of Cyprus to access the German texts through the translations. The texts included are arranged chronologically from the early 19th century to 1878, when the British assumed control of Cyprus. The texts chosen provide information on socioeconomic conditions, including agriculture, taxation and trade. Also included are the attitudes of various writers toward the island and its people.
