Thema der Arbeit ist die Synchronisierung von Transaktionen beim Zugriff auf sogenannte komplexe Objekte, wobei hier Objektstrukturen im Vordergrund ste hen, wie man sie in Entwurfsanwendungen z. B. Schaltungs und Softwareent wurf findet. Im Gegensatz zu einer Reihe anderer Verfahren wird fr die Syn chronisierung die logische Struktur der Objekte, und nicht ihre Speicherungs struktur zugrunde gelegt. Dabei wird sowohl nach Varianten fr Synchronisie rungsverfahren auf den gegebenen Strukturen gefragt als auch nach der Mglich keit, entwurfs typische Strukturen in das Objektmodell einzufhren und fr die Synchronisierung auszunutzen. Die Behandlung von Verfahrensvarianten nimmt einen relativ breiten Raum ein. Dies spiegelt jedoch nicht die Gewichtung wider, die ich ihr zuordnen mchte; vielmehr betrachte ich die durch den Softwareent wurf motivierte Einfhrung von Abstraktionsebenen als den weitaus wichtigeren Beitrag. Die vorliegende Arbeit entstand am Fachbereich Inform?tik der Johann Wolfgang GoetheUniversitt Frankfurt als Dissertation unter dem Titel 'Abwicklung von Entwurfstransaktionen fr modulare Objektsysteme Beitrge zur Synchronisie rung in objektorientierten Datenbanken'. Zum Gelingen der Arbeit haben eine Reihe von Personen direkt oder indirekt bei tragen.
