Seplveda und Vespucci halten ihre Sicht auf die Indios fest, Tacitus widmet sich den Germanen. Ein textanalytischer oder sozialhistorischer Vergleich dieser drei Autoren bietet sich also nicht offenkundig an. Bei Bearbeitung und Untersuchung der beiden neuzeitlichen Autoren Juan Gins de Seplveda und Amerigo Vespucci jedoch im Vergleich mit dem antiken Autor Cornelius Tacitus trat durch die markante Wortwahl bei vielen Phrasen schnell ein Wiedererkennungseffekt ein, der mich hufig dazu veranlasste, so manche Textstelle erneut auf Entsprechungen zu berprfen. Die Bercksichtigung der Chronologie lie vermuten, dass die bei Tacitus entstandenen Topoi gerade da solche im Humanismus eine gesteigerte Bedeutung erfuhren den neuzeitlichen Autoren durchaus gelufig waren. (Auch die Germania" selbst wurde gerade im Humanismus zur wissenschaftlichideologischen berlegungen analysiert. ) Es sei nur daran erinnert, dass Corts seine an Karl V. gerichteten Cartas de relacin" inhaltlich und formal bewusst an das Vorbild von Caesars Bellum Gallicum" anlehnte. Deshalb kann der Versuch dieses ungewhnlichen Vergleichs gewagt werden. Zuerst wird das taciteische Germanenbild in den Blick gerckt. Sobald Textanalyse und Interpretation als fr die Rezeption der neuzeitlichen Topik ntiges Hintergrundwissen dienen, kann eine Analyse der Fremdbilder Seplvedas und Vespuccis folgen. Dabei wird die textimmanente Analyse jeweils in ihren historischen Kontext gebettet.
