Hierbei werden ausschlielich Klster auf deutschem Boden hinsichtlich ihrer Rolle, Funktion und Entwicklung analysiert. Das erste Kapitel dieser Arbeit beschftigt sich mit der gesellschaftlichen Stellung der Klster, mit der Frage, welche Frauen ins Kloster eintraten und welche Grnde sie dafr hatten sowie mit der Entwicklung der Klster im Laufe des Mittelalters. Vor diesem Hintergrund wird der thematische Schwerpunkt der Hausarbeit entfaltet: die Erziehung und die Bildung. Als Basis fr das Verstndnis der klsterlichen Erziehung werden das Klosterleben sowie die Ziele der klsterlichen Erziehung vorgestellt. Anschlieend werden einzelne, wichtige Aspekte der klsterlichen Erziehung wie das Gemeinschaftsleben, die Kleidung, die Krperpflege und Hygiene, die krperliche Arbeit und der Tagesablauf der Nonnen und der zuknftigen Nonnen aufgezeigt. Das folgende Kapitel behandelt die Bildung in den Frauenklstern. Dazu werden einleitend die allgemeinen Ziele der Ausbildung vorgestellt. Im Anschluss werden der Aufbau des Schulwesens in die drei Stufen: Elementarstufe, Mittelstufe und Oberstufe, die jeweiligen Curricula sowie die bedeutenden geschlechtspezifischen Unterschiede in der Nonnenbildung aufgezeigt. Abschlieend wird der Niedergang der klsterlichen Frauenbildung im spten Mittelalter und deren Ursachen thematisiert.
