Darber hinaus werden zum besseren Verstndnis des Themas sowohl Schlagworte als auch Grundgedanken aus der Genetik und Vererbungslehre angefhrt. Der Hauptteil dieser Arbeit ist den werdenden Eltern gewidmet. Wie stehen sie zur Prnatalen Diagnostik? Wie entscheiden sich Eltern, wenn sie nach den Untersuchungen erfahren, dass ihr Kind behindert sein wird? Ist eine Abtreibung der einzige Weg? Und was bewegt Eltern dazu, zu ihrem behinderten Kind doch 'Ja' zu sagen? Da dieses Thema auch von groem ffentlichen Interesse ist, gibt diese Arbeit in einem ExtraKapitel auch die Stellungnahmen einiger Institutionen wieder, um die verschiedenen ( aber doch hnlichen ) Standpunkte aufzuzeigen. Um das Thema abzurunden, wird noch ein Blick in die ( nicht mehr all zu ferne Zukunft gewagt. In welche Richtung wird sich die Genetik entwickeln? Was bedeutet das fr jeden Einzelnen von uns? Da das Thema 'Prnatale Diagnostik' oft sehr subjektiv angegangen wird, ist die Botschaft dieser Arbeit an alle Leser Folgende: nicht das theoretische Wissen allein gengt, um diesem Thema 'gewachsen' zu sein, sondern erst der Umgang, das Erleben und die aktive Auseinandersetzung damit prgen unsere Einstellung.
