Esta investigacin se realiz en la coleccin sea rescatada en la comunidad Los Olmos (estado de Hidalgo, Mxico),regin que se ha estudiado mediante el proyecto del CONACYT "Geografa Histrica: Investigacin acerca del urbanismo, demografa y medio ambiente en el norte de la cuenca de Mxico y regiones perifricas", a cargo del arquelogo Osvaldo Jos Sterpone Canuto. En el siglo XVI aqu existi una poblacin que percibi el contacto espaol y, perecera con las epidemias de la primera centuria novohispana, por lo que se busc interpretar el cambio cultural y biolgico de una sociedad en el Altiplano central. La herramienta principal fue la osteologa, aunque los objetivos imbuyeron a una delimitacin de espacios y poblaciones; con esto, se registraron caractersticas demogrficas, rasgos poblacionales, indicadores del estilo de vida y el estado de saludenfermedad, adems del contexto de enterramiento, modificaciones culturales sobre el cuerpo y cambios provocados por elementos geolgicos y biolgicos. Todo esto mostr a una entidad dinmica en los sucesos del siglo XVI, siendo el corolario difundir una parte del quehacer de la Antropologa fsica y Arqueologa de Mxico.
