En el presente libro se describe el desarrollo y caracterizacin de un escner tridimensional que reconstruye digitalmente la forma de objetos slidos en rotacin, utilizando la tcnica de triangulacin por proyeccin de una lnea de luz lser. La tcnica de triangulacin consiste en proyectar una lnea de luz, generada por un diodo lser sobre un objeto slido, se adquire la deformacin de la lnea sobre el relieve por medio de una cmara enlazada a la computadora y la informacin que proporciona la cmara se procesa para la reconstruccin digital. En la etapa de procesamiento se lleva acabo la obtencin de la informacin relevante de las imgenes capturadas por la cmara, las cuales son representadas como datos numricos para ser empleados en el algoritmo matemtico de la tcnica de triangulacin y finalmente obtener la reconstruccin digital en 3D del objeto. Para el desarrollo de los programas computacionales se emplea el software LabVIEW de National Instruments. En la actualidad las aplicaciones del escner tridimensional van desde visin para robots, verificacin de piezas industriales, modelado de pelculas animadas y videojuegos, entre muchas otras.
