In hierdie boek word gepoog om die verband tussen eskatologie en die sending aan te dui. Dit word gedoen aan die hand van drie ekumeniese sendingkonferensies wat gehou is vanaf 1910 tot 1938. Hierna word die vergadering van 1928 in Jerusalem, wat plaasvind in ?n tydperk van groot onsekerheid, van nader bekyk. Hier word die kerk se rol in die sosiale nood van mense beklemtoon. Laastens word sending in die skadu van die 2de Wreldoorlog tydens die byeenkoms in Tambaram (1938) beoordeel. Hier speel die eskatologie ?n besondere rol. Uiteindelik is daar ook ?n groter balans tussen die verlossing van die siel en die verlossing van die liggaam.
