Lobjet de ce travail de thse est ltude thorique et exprimentale des proprits optiques des FMAS et lvaluation de leur potentiel en vue de leurs applications aux systmes de tlcommunications optiques. Il sagira dans un premier temps de mettre au point les mthodes numriques ncessaires la conception et la modlisation de ces fibres, en vue de dfinir les structures les plus performantes. Un autre volet consistera tudier la dpendance des proprits optiques des FMAS de leurs paramtres et des imperfections gomtriques et d'en tirer des conclusions pouvant tre utiles aux fabricants. Ltude comportera aussi un volet exprimental couvrant la caractrisation des FMAS ralises au cours de la thse. Dans un second temps, nous prsenterons une mthode originale base sur l'analyse azimutale du champ lointain mergeant de la fibre sous test. Afin de faciliter lusage de cette mthode au cas des FMAS, nous dterminerons par simulation le critre de mesure de la longueur donde de coupure. Enfin, ces FMAS sont mises profit exprimentalement o la gnration de supercontinuums est dmontre et analyse, en rgime nanoseconde.
