Los actores e instituciones involucrados con la educacin superior venezolana han coincidido en asumir la necesidad de adoptar nuevos enfoques de generacin de capital humano basados en la creacin de un perfil profesional estructurado en competencias generales, bsicas y especficas, alineadas con los requerimientos de progreso de la sociedad, por lo cual diversas universidades nacionales han iniciado programas de cambio curricular inspiradas en el Proyecto Tuning Amrica Latina. Una de las instituciones de Educacin Superior que ha asumido este reto ha sido la Universidad del Zulia, tomndose de ella, como ejemplo, la Escuela de Sociologa. Este libro muestra los resultados de la primera fase del proceso de evaluacin del nuevo plan curricular de esta carrera, considerando la perspectiva de los docentes y el impacto preliminar de esa reforma sobre el rendimiento acadmico de los estudiantes. El anlisis desarrollado y el detalle de la metodologa utilizada puede ser til para los interesados en comprender la complejidad de este tipo de procesos en el mbito del curriculum universitario.
