The main subordination between the natural landscape components and the outdoor recreation are established. The most important landscape characterizations regarding the recreation activities are determined too. On the basis of that is performed a round of landscape analyses with the purpose of fixing the recreation potential within a wide region having a name for a national resort. The object of this study is the areas within the Training and Experimental Forest Range Yundola which is managed by the University of Forestry as an outdoor classroom and research facility. The necessity of an individual approach in landscape potential evaluating is wellfounded. The most important preconditions for setting presence and extent of the recreation potential are revealed and just that estimation aspect is laid down that fall into the range of the landscape sphere. A typological classification is explained and founded, in order to differentiate mountain forest landscapes in accordance to their visual impact and their environmental properties from the recreational point of view. On the basis of this classification a theoretical model for evaluation is worked out.
