Eve Arnold, born in 1912 to Russian immigrant parents in Philadelphia, died in London in 2012 shortly before her 100th birthday. One of the great women photographers of the 20th century, Eve Arnold joined the legendary Magnum agency in 1951 and became its first full female member in 1957. Published in honor of her 100th birthday and in memory of the grande dame of photojournalism, this lavishly illustrated monograph is a collection of Eve Arnolds most famous photo documentaries. Accompanied by her commentaries, these include New York by Night, Fashion Shows in Harlem (1950), A Babys Momentous First Five Minutes, Haiti Voodoo, and Malcolm X, as well as her travel photographs from Afghanistan (from the late 60s), China and India (circa 1980), and her legendary portraits of Marilyn Monroe, Marlene Dietrich, Joan Crawford, Isabella Rossellini, Clark Gable, Peter OToole, and Anthony Quinn.
