A partir de las ltimas dcadas del siglo XX, sectores ortodoxos del fundamentalismo cristiano han divulgado desde Estados Unidos un discurso antievolucionista con visos de cientificidad llamado ciencia de la creacin o creacionismo cientfico, cuya ltima versin se conoce como diseo inteligente. Esta obra propone al lector elementos de juicio racional y evidencia cientfica contrastada sobre la inverosimilitud de los argumentos empleados por el creacionismo fundamentalista contra la teora de Darwin sobre evolucin de las especies por seleccin natural y contra el pensamiento evolucionista en general.
