This volume contains an account of the excavation of settlement and cemetery areas at ElAshmunein during the second stage of the British Museum project at the site. The results of the excavation constitute a significant addition to the archaeology of the ancient city and indicate that the potential for new discoveries at the site is far from being exhausted. Spencer describes the two major areas of interest revealed by excavations: a settlement of the Third Intermediate Period and a walled cemetery dating to c.2000 BC. In addition to a description of the archaeology, this volume also includes a complete catalogue of the objects discovered, including a large collection of pottery.
