Gelingt ihm das nicht in ausreichendem Mae, wird er seelisch krank und greift zu radikalen psychopathologischen Strategien, um sich der sich aufdrngenden Angst zu entledigen. In dieser Betonung der letzten wichtigen Dinge des Lebens, denen sich jeder Einzelne irgendwann selbst stellen muss, ist dieses Buch eindeutig in der Existenzphilosophie J. P.
